Talk about a short trip from the penthouse to the outhouse.

The Texans won the AFC South last season, but that accomplishment was largely due to their defense. Osweiler, 26, had a mediocre season and did not give Houston owner Bob McNair a good return on his investment.
Elite Womens O.J. Mayo Jersey
Osweiler threw a franchise-record 16 interceptions, was benched in Week 15 and reportedly had a locker room confrontation with coach Bill O’Brien in Week 17. The big signing, and McNair’s investment, turned into a total bust, and Osweiler was jettisoned out of Houston last week in a trade with Cleveland.

To add insult to injury, the Texans so wanted to rid themselves of Osweiler and his $16 million guaranteed salary for 2017 that they actually gave Cleveland a second-round pick in the deal. And the street talk is that the lowly Browns will cut Osweiler after it becomes clear they can’t trade him.

The No. 67 pick in this draft originally belonged to the Cubs, but it was given to the Nationals as compensation for Chicago signing Alfonso Soriano. That worked well for the Nats, eh? Zimmermann was a rock in Washington’s lineup for five years (average of 194 innings, 3.14 ERA) before he left to sign with the Tigers as a free agent after the 2015 season.

Youngsters know Haren as King of Twitter (at least, they should), but before he retired Haren was one of baseball’s most reliable starting pitchers. The right-hander strung together 11 consecutive seasons of at least 30 starts and finished with 153 wins and a 3.75 ERA.

Why can’t I get excited about the World Baseball Classic?

It’s almost time for another World Baseball Classic, when countries of the world come together to celebrate baseball and all its greatness and blah, blah, blah.

I’m sorry. Forgive my lack of enthusiasm. The WBC has never excited me. I don’t know why. I just don’t care about it at all. If it pumps you up, don’t let my indifference bring you down. But, man, it sure doesn’t do much for me.

Brandon Flowers Limited Jersey The WBC seems like something I would like. It’s live baseball featuring elite talent, and the first good, live baseball since the World Series. A placeholder to help pass the time until MLB’s opening day. What’s not to love? Well, apparently everything.

Kevin Minter Limited Jersey But Harper didn’t work alone during Wednesday’s scoring bonanza. First baseman Ryan Zimmerman collected three hits, including his own grand slam, marking just the third time in Nationals history that two players hit grand slams in the same game.

Lurking just out of the spotlight, quietly exceeding everyone’s wildest expectations, is center fielder Adam Eaton. Many wondered what Washington was thinking when it gave up both of its top pitching prospects for Eaton’s underrated services this offseason. The former White Sox star has alleviated any doubt fans may have had by racking up another multi-hit game to jump his average up to .327 this season.

Eaton, who is batting leadoff with Trea Turner on the disabled list, has already scored 14 runs with seven RBIs and three stolen bases. The Nationals might win that trade yet.

Aaron Judge is strong, like really strong. The 6-7 outfielder crushed another deep home run (448 feet) in a 9-1 win over the White Sox. Judge, who now has five home runs on the season, went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, a solo home run and a walk in the win.

NFL Draft 2017: Scouting report for Jets S Jamal Adams

Jamal Adams is arguably the top safety prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft class.

The 6-0, 214-pound LSU product at the Combine ran a 4.56 40-yard dash. In three seasons with the Tigers, he made 128 solo tackles, including 18 for loss, and picked off five passes. Here is Garrett’s 2017 NFL Draft scouting report, provided by Optimum Scouting’s 2017 NFL Draft Guide.

Adams was the No. 1 safety recruit in the nation out of high school, and he comes from an NFL pedigree, as his dad won a Super Bowl with the Giants.

As a true freshman at LSU, Adams played in all 13 games and had 36 tackles to earn freshman All-American honors. As a sophomore, he became a full-time starter and earned All-SEC honors. As a junior, he was a team captain and a first-team AP All-American.

Adams is an all-around safety. He loves to come into the box on rushing attempts and lay the boom. He drives through his tackles and has insane closing speed. He shows impressive ball skills and can mirror tight ends across the middle with incredible balance and agility to switch on routes.

Adams also can guard slot receivers and destroy screen passes and weak receiver blocking. He will wreak havoc as a special teams contributor.

Adams didn’t commit a single penalty as a junior despite being very aggressive in all phases of the game. That aggressiveness, though, sometimes can get him caught in bad situations like leaving his responsibility or biting on fakes.

Adams has plenty of All-Pro potential and should be drafted no lower than the top 10. He can play all over the field, and he should have an immediate impact in the NFL from Day 1.

This NFL Draft scouting report is included in Optimum Scouting’s 2017 NFL Draft Guide, which is available for purchase here. The draft guide includes 300-plus scouting reports as well as position-specific analytics for prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft.nike_chargers_198

Osweiler eventually will find a team willing to sign him

Elite Jake Long Jersey
Game Youth Richard Dent Jersey So is Osweiler now considered toxic to the point where no team will sign him once he’s released by the Browns? Because it’s clear no team will trade for his $16 million contract this season. Not that the Browns really care, as they’re happy to have the second-round pick for which they essentially paid the $16 million they’ll owe Osweiler. (And no, the Browns are not geniuses for this deal. The $16 million could have been better spent to improve a lousy team.)

Osweiler eventually will find a team willing to sign him, but it will be at a pittance compared to his Houston deal and surely will be incentive-laden. He’ll have to prove himself all over again, too.

Don’t feel too bad for him — he’ll get the entire $37 million that was guaranteed to him in the Houston deal. But if Osweiler is any kind of competitor, his pride has to have taken a massive hit.

Sure, it took quite a while for Davis to find his role as an elite closer in the bigs, but sometimes that happens. If the Devil Rays don’t take Davis with the 75th pick, the Royals almost certainly don’t win the 2015 World Series. Dominoes, folks.

Blackmon was actually twice drafted as a pitcher, by the Marlins in the 28th round of the 2004 draft and by the Red Sox in the 20th round of the 2005 draft. The Rockies are pretty happy he opted against signing both times. They picked him in the second round in 2008, and he’s turned into one of baseball’s best center fielders. Also of note: He didn’t make this list, but 2016 NL batting champ D.J. LeMahieu was also picked in this range, at No. 79 overall in 2009.

Baseball Hall of Fame to celebrate 25th anniversary of ‘Homer at the Bat’

Ken Griffey Jr. already has a place in Cooperstown, but now his grotesquely swollen jaw will get its own recognition in baseball’s hallowed halls.

Elite Womens Cliff Avril Jersey Yes, The Simpsons is headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Associated Press reports that baseball’s ultimate shrine will pay homage to the long-running Fox animated series May 27 when it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the classic episode Homer at the Bat, in which a number of MLB stars of the day, including future Hall of Famers Wade Boggs, Ozzie Smith and Ken Griffey Jr., served as ringers for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant softball team.

Cleveland is now trying to trade Osweiler, and will even throw in a fifth-round pick of their own, for a team’s third-round selection, according to The Browns are also willing to eat a portion of Osweiler’s $16 million guaranteed contract.

Osweiler, 26, is not in the Browns’ quarterback plans and Cleveland will cut him if it can’t trade him, the report states.

The Browns seem very interested in Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but New England doesn’t seem as excited to trade the promising young signal-caller.

Garoppolo helped New England survive while Tom Brady served a four-game suspension to start this past season. His success has led to a number of teams inquiring about his availability.

The Patriots, who understand Tom Brady won’t play forever, haven’t shown the slightest sign of willingness to trade him.

Cleveland also just cut Robert Griffin III, which means second-year pro Cody Kessler will likely start next season.

Game Jose Altuve Jersey All signs point to another long season for Browns fans.

The Seahawks had the NFL’s fifth-best defense last season and want to remain among the best in the league.

There is legitimate reason for his consideration, starting with the fact that Pearson and Cowboys safety Cliff Harris are the only position players on the NFL’s 1970s AllDecade team who aren’t in the Hall.

Despite playing in an era with runheavy offenses, Pearson retired from the Cowboys after the 1983 season among his generation’s leader in catches (489), receiving yards (7,822) and touchdowns (48). He was involved in three of the most memorable plays in NFL history, including what was labeled the NFL’s first Hail Mary catch with a 50yard touchdown grab in the closing seconds to help the 1975 Cowboys beat the Vikings in the playoffs.

Authentic Womens Ozzie Newsome Jersey Pearson’s legacy is such that the Cowboys award his No. 88 jersey only to special receivers like Michael Irvin (who is in the Hall) and Dez Bryant. Without Pearson’s contributions, the Cowboys might not have enjoyed the sustained success that helped lead to the franchise’s nickname as America’s Team.

The Seahawks then had four third-round picks, beginning with Central Florida cornerback Shaquill Griffin at 90th overall. The 6-foot, 194-pound UCF corner was a second-team All-AAC pick last year after recording 50 tackles, three for loss with a team-high four interceptions and 15 pass breakups. He could be a nice addition to the Legion of Boom, as could Michigan safety Delano Hill, who went to the Seahawks with the 95th pick in a selection acquired from the Falcons.

Hill is a 6-1, 216-pound safety has some health concerns with a broken jaw and leg injury during his time in Ann Arbor. His finished his career at Michigan with his best season, tallying 50 tackles, 4 1/2 for loss, and three interceptions as a senior.

The Seahawks had the NFL’s fifth-best defense last season and want to remain among the best in the league. That’s why they again went defense with North Carolina’s Nazair Jones with the 102nd overall pick. The 6-5, 304-pound defensive tackle still has to develop better field awareness, but has good size and strength to go with his long frame.

CBS’s Tony Romo admits he’ll probably stink on TV at first

Memo to CBS Sports: Tony Romo, your new No. 1 NFL game analyst, admits he’ll probably stink on TV this fall.

So CBS will have to be patient with the TV rookie during his first season in the broadcast booth with Jim Nantz.

So they already had had a strong second day before anyone went on the clock Friday night. They have Cooks, Ealy and a third-round pick.

To take it into Day 3 on Saturday, they have a fourth-round pick from the Seahawks via a draft-day trade last year. That makes up for the fourth-round pick they got from the Saints in that Cooks deak, which was docked by the NFL for a rules violation that now feels even more like ancient history than ever: Deflategate.

Yes, Saturday officially closes the door on that, 833 days after the 2015 AFC Championship Game.

But that was before he was charged with domestic violence against his girlfriend just six weeks ago in Ann Arbor. A July trial date was set earlier this month. The most recent draft profile on the NFL’s website projected Lewis in the sixth or seventh round 鈥?although that same profile never mentioned his arrest.

Acts and allegations of violence against women have been a running theme of the draft so far. The Raiders took Gareon Conley in the first round, despite an ongoing investigation into a rape accusation from last week. In the second round, the Bengals took running back Joe Mixon, whose punch that knocked a woman unconscious in 2014 trailed him throughout the pre-draft process.

Florida defensive lineman Caleb Brantley was still on the board through the end of the third round as well, after an incident with a woman at a bar earlier this month. Like Lewis, he ran the risk of falling into the bottom of the draft, if not out of it. The final four rounds take place Saturday.

Did a teacher just ask who put the whoopee cushion on her desk chair?

There are questions about New York’s draft. Did the Giants go away from their usual best-player-available mantra by taking tight end Evan Engram in the first round and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson in the second? Did the Giants also miss out on a need by picking quarterback Davis Webb in the third round?

The Jets started off their draft weekend in excellent fashion, taking safety Jamal Adams at No. 6 overall. After that, much of the draft got panned. No quarterback and waiting until the sixth round to get a cornerback was confusing.

Did a teacher just ask who put the whoopee cushion on her desk chair? Did your boss ask who was supposed to write up the minutes after a conference call? Did your best friend ask who ate the last slice of pizza and it was you, but you know she’ll kill you if you admit it, so you point to the friend people expect to do that sort of thing?

Manuel was a bit of a surprise pick at No. 16 overall in a weak QB draft class. The Bills named him starter for Week 1 hoping he could be the glue to hold together a talented offensive unit.

Manuel was unable to stay on the field for a full season in Year 1 due to a knee injury, and when on the field, he was average at best. The Bills have since moved on to Tyrod Taylor as their franchise QB project.

Wilson was drafted later, in the third round, than anybody else on this list. But he’s included because once camp began, Seattle’s coaching staff had no choice but to name the rookie the starter over Matt Flynn, who had just signed a big contract.

Things to Consider Before Splitting up the Second Line

The line of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Milan Lucic is taking some heat because of their lack of production, especially at even-strength (5v5). Over the nine games this post-season, Lucic and Eberle each have an assist, while Nugent-Hopkins has not registered any points at even-strength. As a trio, their on-ice goal-share is 25%, as they’ve been on the ice for one goal-for and three goals against. But before splitting them up, there are a couple things to consider.

The trio have played the most minutes together this post-season for the Oilers (85.37 minutes) and have often been out against the other team’s top lines.
In the previous series, they played the most minutes against Pavelski and Thornton. Currently, they’re playing the majority of their minutes against Ryan Getzlaf.
There have been 45 different line combinations across the league this post-season that have played at least 30 minutes together. Among the 45, the trio rank 7th in terms of adjusted Corsi For% and Fenwick For%. They rank 13th when it comes to Expected Goals.

James’ body might be playing against Toronto, but his mind is thinking about the next season of Game of Thrones. When he’s scoring with ease against Dwane Casey’s men, he doesn’t have the Raptors’ defense on his brain, but whether Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are related, if they will marry, and how gross that would be.

This disrespect isn’t reserved for this postseason either. Last year, after the Cavaliers beat the Raptors 116-78 in Game 5 of what had been a 2-2 series — the biggest playoff winning margin in Cavaliers history — James said rather plainly that being tied with the Raptors never struck him as an adverse situation:

2017 NFL draft grades by a college fan who barely knows anything about the pros

If you’d like NFL draft grades by a professional, go here.

If you’d like NFL draft grades by a college professional who pretty much only pays attention to semi-amateur players and has little idea what pro scouts think, continue, I guess. (Last year, I had the Browns winning this thing after drafting a damn all-conference team.)

First, the 49ers, Browns, Chargers, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, Packers, Ravens, Vikings, and Washington stand out as having grabbed a lot of players who were exceptionally good at football in college. Let’s give them each a B+.

The Capitals now have a unique opportunity to even the series while the Penguins best players sit out of the lineup. Game 4 on Wednesday is as crucial as mid-series games come.
Game Womens John Greco Jersey
The Penguins are still deadly without their best player. The last two minutes of Game 3 were simultaneously expected and shocking. It’s a testament to how deep the Penguins lineup is. Despite losing Crosby, they were able to generate a pair of goals in under two minutes to push the Capitals to the brink.

Braden Holtby. The Capitals netminder was the best he’s been in this series in Game 3. Holtby saved 28 of 30 Penguins shots, but overall looked more in control and comfortable in net. Though we didn’t see how Holtby responded in overtime to the Penguins two goals as the Capitals ended it quickly, the opening moments of Game 4 will be a good test to see how on his game he is.

How much of a difference will Crosby’s absence cause? We know the Penguins did just fine in Game 3, but Wednesday is a whole new ballgame. Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury will have to be the Penguins’ biggest contributors if they want to put the Capitals on the edge.

Game Womens Sammy Watkins Jersey Who takes home Game 4?
The Capitals. A weakened Pittsburgh lineup puts up a fight, but a healthy Capitals squad wins out to even the series.
